But connections made in a single place may be isolated from these made in another, so we may not assume as often about things that happened for the few months we lived someplace else. In the modern Western world, perceptions of home are persistently coloured by elements of economic system and selection. While exploring the relevance of this phenomenological perspective for medical theory and follow, the focus is on the care of people affected by dementia.

And but, once we imagine house, it is usually not the constructions themselves but the emotions, practices, and relationships inside acquainted spaces which give home a powerful sense of belonging. Home will be the scent of a grandmother’s cooking, the acquainted fuzz of a worn cushion, the seemingly defiant thrill of hanging posters on the wall as a teenager, or the knot of rigidity within the abdomen of a kid listening to an argument in the adjoining room. Recent anthropological studies have hence appeared past physical buildings to know home when it comes to a diverse array of practices, meaningful and imaginative forms, and feelings which encompass a sense of groundedness inside the world.
